ABOUT

Surrealist conceptual artist blending analytical precision with emotional depth.
Angelo Asaro is an Italian artist based in London. His journey is a unique fusion of engineering and art. With a master's degree in engineering, Angelo initially built a successful career as a Product Manager. However, his true passion has always been art, an interest he consistently nurtured alongside his profession, eventually embracing it fully as his artistic vocation. This transition enabled him to channel his analytical skills into the meticulous attention to detail that defines his work, creating a refined balance between precision and imagination.
Angelo’s artistic style blends surrealism and symbolism, enriched by a strong philosophical and conceptual approach. His work is shaped by a rich network of influences, including literature, philosophy, and diverse artistic movements, combined with an in-depth exploration of psychological and existential themes.
Growing up in Sicily, a land rich in history, culture, and contrasts between its cultural heritage and the challenges of modern life, provided a backdrop for his exploration of themes such as identity, memory, and resilience. The region's literary and cultural influences have had a profound impact on his artistic vision. Authors like Luigi Pirandello, who explored the complexities of reality, perception, and the ambiguity between illusion and truth, have subtly influenced his surrealist approach, inspiring him to challenge the boundaries between reality and imagination. In his art, objects are often arranged in ways that defy logic and perception, reflecting the continuous dialogue between reality and illusion.
Moving to London added another layer of depth to his artistic practice. Immersed in the city’s vibrant and cosmopolitan environment, Angelo’s work evolved to intertwine his personal narrative with broader social themes, resulting in pieces that resonate on both an individual and universal level.
Angelo’s works have been exhibited in galleries, international exhibitions, and prestigious art fairs. His creations have been featured in leading publications such as British Vogue and Vanity Fair, as well as in influential art blogs and online magazines dedicated to art and culture.
His works are held in private collections and are appreciated by collectors, gallery owners, and art experts worldwide, reflecting the growing recognition of his artistic research and expressive language.
In 2024, he was a finalist in the esteemed ArtGemini Prize and the Zari Art Prize, two international awards recognizing contemporary artistic talent, with the painting 'Ready-Made Thoughts'.
In 2025, he won First Prize in the Giotto International Visual Arts Award for his painting ‘Silent War’, a recognition honouring artists who capture the spirit of the times through expressive intensity and conceptual depth.
The same year, he was again selected as a finalist for the Zari Art Prize, with two paintings — 'Regrets' and 'Lost in Reflection' — chosen among the finalists, further confirming his growing presence in the contemporary art scene.
Further consolidating his recognition, in 2025 he was also selected to participate in the XV Florence Biennale – International Exhibition of Contemporary Art and Design, one of the most important international events dedicated to contemporary art and design, as well as the London Art Biennale 2025, a prestigious curated exhibition showcasing outstanding contemporary artists from around the world.
In the same year, he was also selected for the 'Fables' exhibition at Mall Galleries in London and for the Sanremo Art Festival – International Biennale Art Expo, a showcase of contemporary arts held at the iconic Ariston Theatre, where he received a Critics’ Honourable Mention for his expressive research and poetic strength.
In 2026, he was invited to participate in the Milan Biennale ArtExpo and was recognized with a Biennale Prize for artistic excellence and creativity. In the same year, Angelo is also set to be featured at MoMA in New York in the prestigious Atlante dell’Arte Contemporanea, the longest-running Italian yearbook dedicated to international contemporary art.
